"I am a freshman at Johns Hopkins University. After taking, and loving, every science class at Asheville High School, I have decided to study Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. I am interested in pursuing medical research focused on tissue engineering or drug delivery. I’m also looking into a handful of minors including computational medicine, computer science and space technology and engineering. At Asheville High, I played three years of varsity baseball and served as president of the Science National Honor Society and parliamentarian of the National Honor Society. Outside of school, I was the president of my local YMCA Leaders Club and helped organize and execute various service projects around my community.

In addition to my involvement in baseball as a player, I also umpired for the North Asheville Little League throughout my high school career and look forward to coaching a team in future years. In my spare time I love playing guitar and hope to continue my musical pursuits in college. I also plan on doing undergraduate research at the JHU Medical School, playing various intramural sports and joining clubs such as the JHU Outdoors Club and our chapter of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. I am so thankful for the Community Foundation of WNC for this fantastic opportunity to help me attend the school of my dreams. Go Blue Jays!
