Q1. How do I search for a specific organization?
A. Click on "make a grant" which takes you to the Research Charities page.  Fewer words work better when searching for an organization - start with just one.  If the county in WNC is known, change "interest code operation" to "and" then choose the county too.

Q2. How can I know if the grant I recommended has been paid?
A. On Fund Summary page, click the down arrow for grants.  There will be a list of the grants paid from your fund.  Grants are paid within two weeks of sumitting a request.

Q3. How secure is Donor Central and what Web Browsers are compatible?
A. In order to use this site, your web browser must be Internet Explorer 9, Firefox 11 or Google Chrome.   Specifically, your browser must support: • 128-bit encryption, often referred to as domestic-, U.S.-grade, or strong encryption (as opposed to 40-bit encryption, which is also called international-grade or low encryption) • Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) version 2.0 protocol
Disable Pop-Up Blocker:  Tools>Pop-up Blocker>Pop-up Blocker Settings.

Q4. Who do I contact if I have a problem using the site or forgot my password?
A.  The Donor Central Login page has a "Forgot Your Password?" link.  If you forget your password you can retrieve a temporary password by clicking on that link, use the email address the Foundation has related to your Donor Central account.  You can get help from Spencer Butler at 828-367-9903 or butler@cfwnc.org.

Q5. What's the difference between a gift and a grant?
A. The way we use those terms at the Foundation, a gift is any asset a donor contributes to his or her fund, such as cash, appreciated stock, or real estate.   A grant is the money given to a nonprofit group from one of the funds established at the Foundation. An easy way to remember this is: "Gift in, grant out."

Q6. When researching nonprofit organizations, I don't find many outside of Western North Carolina. How do I find out about these?
A. Only nonprofits supported through CFWNC can be found in our database. However, because of the network of community foundations, our program staff can help you identify organizations and projects anywhere in the U.S. For more information, contact Spencer Butler, Donor Services Associate, at butler@cfwnc.org or 828-367-9903.

Q7. Will my session ever time out??
A. Yes, for security reasons, your session will "time out" of Donor Central in 15 minutes, after which you will be asked to log back on.

Q8. How can I increase or decrease the size of the text in Donor Central?
A. Go to the menu bar at the top of your web browser, select View, and then select Text Size. You will then have a choice of what size text you see in Donor Central. Note that this will affect the size of instructional text and text within tables.

Q9. How do I submit my list of grant requests?
A. Click on one or more of the boxes to the left of the requests, then choose submit list. Or to submit the entire list, check the box beside "Organization Name" and all will be marked for submission.
