Children’s Center of Transylvania County - $12,000 to expand the Nurturing Parent Program that aims to stop the cycle of abuse and neglect of children through education and mentoring for parents to help them strengthen their skills and access community resources.
Muddy Sneakers - $19,950 for a local program that brings science education to life through outdoor learning expeditions for fifth-grade students in Transylvania County.
Transylvania County Department of Public Health - $8,380 to help the C.A.R.E Coalition purchase additional Naloxone kits and lock boxes to reduce prescription drug abuse and overdose deaths in the community.
Transylvania County Home Care and Hospice - $10,000 to enhance palliative care services, including in-home services for patients with serious or life-limiting illnesses.
Neighbors in Ministry - $10,000 to hire a Development Director to help sustain funding for its afterschool programs.
SAFE, Inc. of Transylvania County - $20,000 to upgrade security for Stacey’s House, a shelter for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
The Family Place of Transylvania County - $10,200 to strengthen its program that refers and coordinates services for families experiencing crisis situations that put them at extremely high-risk for potential child abuse and neglect within the home.
Transylvania Christian Ministry - $20,000 to empower and educate low-income neighbors to “get ahead” financially by using a national program facilitated by a trained leader who demonstrates how participants can improve finances, emotional well-being and connections to other community resources.
Western Carolina Community Action, Inc. - $15,000 to assist extremely low (below 30% of area median income) income families to secure decent, safe, sanitary, and affordable housing using the Housing Choice Voucher.
