criteria listed on the scholarship home page and the
specific criteria following each scholarship description to be eligible
for that award.
WNC Regional Scholarships
(Deadline: January 15)
Clyde & Mildred Wright Memorial Scholarship Fund
William Forster, Jr. and Nancy Forster Stevens Scholarship Fund
Lucius Lanier Memorial Fund
Nelle Crowell Fletcher & G.L. Crowell Fund
Together, these funds offer one scholarship to each public high
school in Western North Carolina. Scholarships range from $1,000
non-renewable awards to $5,000 four-year renewable awards.
To qualify for this scholarship, you must be:
- a graduating senior of Brevard High School, Rosman High School
or Davidson River School
Harry W. Clarke Memorial Scholarship
(Deadline: January 15)
One $1,500 four-year renewable award to students attending four-year
institutions
One $750 two-year renewable award to students attending two-year
community colleges
To qualify for this scholarship, you must be:
- a
graduating senior of Brevard High School, Rosman High School, or Davidson River
School
- committed to attending college within North Carolina
Captain John G. Gardner, USMC, Viet Nam Veterans Memorial Scholarship
(Deadline: January 15)
Three non-renewable $1,000 awards
To qualify for this scholarship, you must be:
- a graduating high school senior
- a relative of an active-duty decorated Vietnam veteran (proof of military service required)
J. Jerry Cabe Dental Scholarship
(Deadline: Third Monday in June)
One non-renewable $500 award
To qualify for this scholarship, you must be:
- a graduate of a Transylvania high school, or be employed in Transylvania County
- able to show proof of acceptance into an accredited dental hygiene or dental assisting program
Johneen Roth Epstein Scholarship
(Deadline: January 24)
One non-renewable $500 award
To qualify for this scholarship, you must be:
- completing your freshman year or beyond at Brevard College
- committed to the serious study of vocal music at Brevard
College
- committed to continuing music in your life and the lives
of others beyond college
This scholarship has the following special characteristic:
- preference for students who have declared or plan to declare
a music major
Transylvania Excellence in Education/Chamber Award
(Deadline: November 7)
One non-renewable $350 award
To qualify for this scholarship, you must be:
- a teacher in a Transylvania County
public school
Transylvania Excellence in Education/Excellence Award
(Deadline: January 15)
One non-renewable $1,000 award
To qualify for this scholarship, you must be:
- a graduating senior of Brevard High School, Rosman High School or Davidson River School
- able to demonstrate excellence in the field of English
Transylvania Excellence in Education/Holbrook-Nichols Achievement Award
(Deadline: January 15)
One non-renewable $1,000 award
To qualify for this scholarship, you must be:
- a
graduating senior of Brevard High School, Rosman High School, or Davidson River
School
- able to demonstrate achievement and potential in construction,
drafting, masonry, or mechanical technology
This scholarship has the following special characteristic:
- preference for students who are pursuing journeyman certification
through the work-study program with the North Carolina Department
of Labor
