Alexander, Alleghany, Ashe, Caldwell, Catawba, Cleveland, Gaston, Iredell, Lincoln, Watauga, and Wilkes counties

Harry W. Clarke Memorial Scholarship
(Deadline: January 15)

One $1,500 four-year renewable award to students attending four-year institutions
One $750 two-year renewable award to students attending two-year community colleges

To qualify for this scholarship, you must be:

  • a graduating senior of any public high school in Alexander, Alleghany, Caldwell, Catawba, Cleveland, Gaston, Iredell, Lincoln, Watauga, or Wilkes counties
  • committed to attending college within North Carolina
     

Captain John G. Gardner, USMC, Viet Nam Veterans Memorial Scholarship
(Deadline: January 15)

Three non-renewable $1,000 awards

To qualify for this scholarship, you must be:

  • a graduating high school senior
  • a relative of an active-duty decorated Vietnam veteran (proof of military service required)
     
     

Ashe County

Lynn Brown Slater Memorial Scholarship
(Deadline: January 15)

One non-renewable $3,000 award

To qualify for this scholarship, you must be:

  • a graduating senior of Ashe County High School
     

Cleveland County

Margie McCluney Hamrick Nursing Scholarship
(Deadline: January 15)

One non-renewable $1,000 award

To qualify for this scholarship, you must be:

  • a graduating senior of a Cleveland County public high school
  • planning a career in nursing
     

Wellington Hamrick Scholarship
(Deadline: January 15)

One non-renewable $1,000 award

To qualify for this scholarship, you must be:

  • a female graduating senior of a Cleveland County public high school or The NC School of Science and Mathematics (provided your legal residence is in Cleveland County)
  • planning to study math, science, engineering or another technical field or trade leading to a degree in her chosen field
     

Randolph County

Captain John G. Gardner, USMC, Viet Nam Veterans Memorial Scholarship
(Deadline: January 15)

Three non-renewable $1,000 awards

To qualify for this scholarship, you must be:

  • a graduating high school senior
  • a relative of an active-duty decorated Vietnam veteran (proof of military service required)

Yates L. and Louise D. Holland Scholarship 
(Deadline: January 15)

One non-renewable $500 award

To qualify for this scholarship, you must be:

  • a graduating senior of Eastern Randolph High School
  • a member of an even-numbered class year (2008, 2010, etc.)
