The grant recipients will receive their funding over a two-year period.
- ABCCM -
$50,000 to develop a vegetable oil recycling program that will create jobs for local veterans in the growing bio-fuels industry, as well as benefit the environment.
- Advantage West -
$50,000 to provide technical assistance, marketing and food manufacturing support for small businesses and farmers who use the Blue Ridge Food Ventures facility, a shared-use food processing center.
- American Farmland Trust -
$48,000 to advance the Agricultural Development and Farmland Protection Plan which aims to keep agriculture a viable part of the economy, preserve farmland and increase profitability for local farmers.
- HandMade in America -
$50,000 to document how area artists' work can be incorporated into custom architectural features or home furnishings.
- Mountain BizWorks -
$50,000 to provide one-on-one business planning and consulting to aspiring, small business entrepreneurs.
- North Carolina Stage Company -
$50,000 to create a marketing campaign for Asheville 's nonprofit performing arts community.
