I am a rising freshman at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where I am a part of the Honors Program. After having just completed my stay at the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics, a two-year residential high school in the heart of Durham, I am still yearning for more research, more open-ended questions, and especially, more science. I will therefore be majoring in some sort of science at UNC-CH, possibly double majoring with a humanities counterpart, and fulfilling pre-med requirements--I'm curious to see where these plans will take me! My recent interests span from Neuro-Economics to genetics to eating disorders. These specific interests stemmed from taking a neuroecon seminar, AP Biology, and being in a mentorship at Duke University doing anorexia nervosa research. Also, I am looking forward to joining the ethics bowl team at UNC, participating in club cross country, and either pursuing the research I did last year through the UNC Integrative Medicine department or finding a new research topic. I plan to continue studying cello and am currently pondering the possibility of Mandarin Chinese or continuing with Spanish. Faced with endless possibilities, thanks to the help of The Community Foundation of Western North Carolina, I can't wait to embark on this new adventure.
