Transylvania Excellence in Education / Excellence Award

The Transylvania Excellence in Education / Excellence Award provides scholarships to public high school seniors in Transylvania County who excel in the academic field of English. The award was established by a resident of Transylvania County who wished to remain anonymous. Since the award’s creation, other local donors have joined in supporting this scholarship.

Eligibility

One award is available to a Transylvania County public high school senior who has demonstrated excellence in the study of English. The program aims to target students who would not usually be recognized by other scholarship programs.

The Community Foundation scholarships will be awarded without regard to age, race, national origin, ethnicity, gender, disability, sexual orientation, political affiliation, religious belief, or any other characteristic protected by law.

Selection Criteria

  • student’s achievements in English
  • good moral character, financial need, and community involvement
  • An essay is a required component of the application for this scholarship. Please submit, within the online application, a composition (two double-spaced typed pages) that addresses  your goals and your interest in the academic field of English.

 

Application Procedure

To apply, students must complete an application online.  The application, with required attachments, must be submitted online on or before the deadline.
