We have a diverse range of scholarships. Some are open to all high school seniors in Western North Carolina, others serve a specific school or county, or reward a student following a particular career path. For details on specific programs, go to the list of available scholarships, read the brief description and click on the scholarship name to open a PDF document that explains the scholarship details.
Our scholarships are open to North Carolina residents who are public high school seniors, who attend the
NC School of Science and Mathematics or the UNC School of the Arts High School, or who study in a home school registered with the North Carolina Division of Non-Public Education. There are some programs open to private high school students in Buncombe County, and a few programs open to students already in college or who are employees or children of employees of certain area corporations. Be sure to check the list of
available scholarships and eligibility requirements for further information.
The deadlines stated on our applications are the latest date on which students may submit their completed applications to their guidance counselors (or in a few cases, directly to The Community Foundation - see application for details).

Unless otherwise specified (see programs list and requirements), students may attend any U.S. institutions on U.S. soil, accredited by the U.S. Department of Education, and which qualify to receive federal student aid funding, including grants, loans, and work-study. Scholarship monies may be used towards the published cost of attendance, including tuition and fees, books and other educational supplies, and/or on-campus housing expenses.
