Grants

A key role of The Community Foundation is to match donor funds with promising projects across Western North Carolina. To help accomplish this, we invite nonprofit organizations to bring us their best ideas on how they can improve the quality of life for our region's citizens. Through a careful review process, the Foundation's staff and board work together to award grants that strengthen the nonprofit sector with program and organizational support. In simplest terms, CFWNC grants are an investment in the future of our mountain region.

All 18 Counties of Western North Carolina

Our grants are made to nonprofit 501(C)(3) organizations and public agencies serving the 18-county region. Each grant program has specific application criteria and deadlines.

We want to help make applications for funding as effective as possible. Before submitting a request, nonprofit representatives should review current guidelines.

In April of 2009, the Foundation made a Recession Response Grant to the Bountiful Cities Project to support the formation of new community gardens. The modest $5,000 grant, distributed amongst six community gardens, will impact neighborhoods for years to come.
